What is Law New?

Law new refers to legal technology, services and innovations that alter the way we work with the law. This term is used to describe everything from startup firms and subsidiary subsidiaries augmenting traditional law firm offerings, to legal research tools, and artificial intelligence software that can interpret legal documents.

The term also is used to describe ideas for legislation that are introduced in either the House or Senate, and eventually become Public Laws (called Acts when they are approved by Congress). These bills are referred to by their H.R. or S. numbers and are numbered in the order in which they are introduced during a Congress.

When a bill is ready to be voted on, the committee staff writes a report that describes the purpose and scope of the bill. If the bill is recommended for approval by the entire committee, the committee’s report is placed in the public record and a copy of it is sent to the full chamber in which the bill was introduced.
