Founded in 1919, the New York Daily News was the first American newspaper printed in tabloid format. It quickly gained a reputation for sensational coverage of crime and scandal, lurid photographs, and comics, and at its peak in 1947 was the fourth-highest circulation newspaper in the United States. The News remains one of the most popular and influential newspapers in the United States, although its circulation has been declining since its peak. It is currently owned by Tronc, a subsidiary of the Tribune Company, and is published at 4 New York Plaza in Manhattan.
Its editorial staff is known for its aggressive investigative reporting and strong opposition to the policies of President Donald Trump. In a recent editorial, the News decried the president’s “disruptive and dangerous” policy initiatives, including his immigration crackdown. The editorial concluded, “The president’s actions aren’t just illegal and immoral. They’re also unconstitutional and unjust.”
A longtime rival of the New York Post, the Daily News has a well-established record for slamming politicians on its front page. It did so again on Monday, slamming a former Republican congressman who had just been found guilty of campaign finance violations. The News highlighted his tax returns, which punctured several claims in his felony conviction narrative.

The Yale Daily News is the oldest college newspaper in the United States, published each day when school is in session. Buckley, Lan Samantha Chang, John Hersey, Joseph Lieberman, Sargent Shriver, Garry Trudeau, and others.
