A daily news is a newspaper that contains articles and information about current events. Often, these papers will also contain opinion pieces that provide different viewpoints on the issues. Many people rely on these newspapers to keep them up to date about what is happening in the world.

Founded in 1878, the Yale Daily News is the nation’s oldest college newspaper and publishes each weekday during the academic year. The News is the primary source of news and debate at Yale and is editorially independent. Past student editors and writers have gone on to prominent careers in journalism and public service, including William F. Buckley, Lan Samantha Chang, John Hersey, Sargent Shriver, Paul Steiger and Strobe Talbott.

The New York Daily News is a tabloid newspaper that was once the largest circulation newspaper in the United States. It was first printed in 1919 and is owned by tronc, the publishing operations of the Tribune Company. The paper has a reputation for sensationalism, and was the first newspaper in the United States to use the tabloid format. It focuses on political wrongdoing and social intrigue, such as the romance between Wallis Simpson and King Edward VIII, which led to his abdication. The newspaper has a strong sports section, as well as an extensive picture gallery.

For much of its history, the New York Daily News has been locked in a fierce battle for circulation with its rival, the even more sensational New York Post. In the latter part of the 20th century, the Daily News suffered declining readership due to the rise of electronic media, but its coverage of New York City sports, politics and celebrity gossip remains a vital ingredient in its recipe for success.

In 1995, the Daily News moved from its home of 65 years at 220 East 42nd Street near Second Avenue (an official city and national landmark designed by architects John Mead Howells and Raymond Hood) to a single-story office building at 450 West 33rd Street, known as 5 Manhattan West. The former News headquarters straddled the railroad tracks into Pennsylvania Station and featured a giant globe in its lobby. The 42nd Street location was used as the model for the Daily Planet building in the first two Superman films.
